  • Albany Prep:

-          #1 of all public middle schools in Albany on the 2006-07 NYS 6th-grade mathematics test. The pass rate at Albany Prep was 29 percentage points higher than the district average.

-          Of its 6th-grade same-student cohort, 22% made gains of more than 30 percentiles in reading from Fall 2005 to Spring 2007, and 23% made gains of more than 30 percentiles in math.

-          Ranked #3 of all public middle schools in Albany on the NYS Mathematics test for 6th & 7th grades in 2007-08.

 

  • KIPP Tech Valley:

-          #1 of all public middle schools in Albany on the 2007-08 NYS English Language Arts test for 5th, 6th & 7th grades in 2007-08 – every grade served at the school.  The school’s proficiency rates were substantially above the average for district middle schools: 5th grade, +24 points; 6th grade, +36 points; and 7th grade, an amazing +47 points.

-          #1 of all public middle schools in Albany on the 2007-08 NYS English Language Arts test for 7th grade in 2007-08.  Students ranked #2 in proficiency rates in 6th grade this year, too.

-          #2 of all public middle schools in Albany on the 2006-07 6th-grade NYS English Language Arts test.

-          #2 of all public middle schools in Albany on the 2006-07 6th-grade NYS Mathematics test.

-          KIPP Tech Valley 6th-graders posted the third-largest gains in proficiency of any public middle school in Albany on the NYS Mathematics test in 2007-08.

-          In comparison to students nationwide on the TerraNova exam, KIPP Tech Valley’s 7th grade cohort increased from a baseline measurement in Math of the 36th percentile in Fall 2005 to the 76th percentile in Spring 2008 – an increase of 42 percentiles.  In Reading, the same cohort increased from a baseline of the 36th percentile in Fall 2005 to the 66th percentile in Spring 2008, an increase of 30 percentiles.  Finally, in Language, the same cohort increased from a baseline of the 30th percentile in Fall 2005 to the 67th percentile in Spring 2008, an increase of 37 percentiles.

 

  • Achievement Academy: 

-     #1 of all public middle schools in proficiency gains on the NYS English Language Arts test for 6th grade and #3 in 5th grade in 2007-08.

-     #1 of all public middle schools in proficiency gains on the NYS Mathematics test for both 5th & 6th grades in 2007-08.

-       #1 of all charter middle schools on the 2005-06 NYS 5th-grade social studies test.
