In Mathematics, the same cohort increased from a baseline of 35th percentile in 2004 to the 69th percentile in 2008, an increase of 34 percentiles.
- More than two-thirds of students entering Albany Community Charter School’s initial classes had significant basic reading deficiencies (e.g., unable to read, understand the sounds of letters, etc.). By the end of that first school year (2006-07), that number was reduced to 23 percent. By June 2007, first graders posted a 6 percent gain in language on a nationally normed standardized test, surpassing the national average, and posted an exceptional 9 percent gain in math.
