- #1 of all public elementary schools in Albany on the 2006-07 NYS 3rd-grade Mathematics test. The pass rate the Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys was 31 percentage points higher than the district average.

- #1 of all public elementary schools in Albany on the 2005-06 NYS 4th-grade science test. Posted a 100% pass rate – the only time ANY Albany public school has achieved a perfect mark on a state exam. Ranked #2 on the 2006-07 NYS 4th grade science test with 89 percent of students passing.

- In comparison to economically disadvantaged students nationwide on the TerraNova exam, Brighter Choice-Boys 4th grade cohort increased from a baseline measurement in Language of the 40th percentile in 2004 to the 90th percentile in 2008 – an increase of 50 percentiles. In Mathematics, the same cohort increased from a baseline of the 45th percentile in 2004 to the 85th percentile in 2008, an increase of 40 percentiles.
- Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls:
- #1 of all public elementary schools in Albany on the 2007-08 NYS 4th-grade English Language Arts test. The proficiency rate at Brighter Choice-Girls outpaced the average proficiency rate of Albany’s district schools by 24 points.
- #3 of all public elementary schools in Albany on the 2007-08 NYS 4th-grade Mathematics test, outpacing the average pass rate of Albany district schools by 22 points.
- #2 of all public elementary schools in Albany on the 2006-07 NYS 3rd-grade Mathematics test, and #4 on the 4th-grade test.
- #2 of all public schools in Albany on the 2006-07 4th-grade NYS English Language Arts test. The pass rate was 15 percentage points above the average for district elementary schools. The only district school to beat the Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls on this exam had the lowest free/reduced-price lunch student population in the city, and less than half the proportion of students from families in poverty than at the Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls.

- In comparison to economically disadvantaged students nationwide on the TerraNova exam, Brighter Choice-Girls 4th grade cohort increased from a baseline measurement in Language of the 37th percentile in 2004 to the 92nd percentile in 2008 – an increase of 55 percentiles. In Mathematics, the same cohort increased from a baseline of 35th percentile in 2004 to the 69th percentile in 2008, an increase of 34 percentiles.
- Albany Community Charter School:
- More than two-thirds of students entering Albany Community Charter School’s initial classes had significant basic reading deficiencies (e.g., unable to read, understand the sounds of letters, etc.). By the end of that first school year (2006-07), that number was reduced to 23 percent. By June 2007, first graders posted a 6 percent gain in language on a nationally normed standardized test, surpassing the national average, and posted an exceptional 9 percent gain in math.
