The completion of the new school building marks another positive development in Brighter Choice's history. Last year, Brighter Choice was the #1 rated public school in Albany on math and English, posted the highest attendance rate of any school in the district, and became the only charter school in New York State to receive an investment-grade rating from Wall Street credit rating agencies.
The opening of the new building at 116 North Lake, one block away from the original Brighter Choice facility, which will continue to house the girls school, will allow Brighter Choice to expose even more economically disadvantaged children to the quality education we strive to provide.

A luncheon at Brighter Choice Charter School featured a speech (“The Power of Education: A Basic Human Right”) on education and civil rights by Martin Luther King, III, the son of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the President and CEO of the King Center in Atlanta, Georgia. As the public dialogue in Albany concerning education, opportunity and equality continues, this event will proved significant as we move forward together as a community expanding educational options for all.
